Origin
For the past decades, humankind has been fighting against microorganisms. In doing so, humans have also disturbed some balances which are essential to life.
Results
Weakening microbiomes has led to new problems, including autoimmune disorders, biodiversity loss and reduced soil fertility.
Challenge
A major challenge for our century is therefore to change the paradigm towards microbes to preserve vital symbioses for human benefit in health, food, cosmetics, and agriculture.
To explore the untapped potential of microbiome, Microbiome Studio is aiming at analysing & integrating various omics and non-omics data to reveal the metabolic pathways activated in a specific ecosystem in specific conditions. Microbiome Studio offers intuitive visualization of those pathways to understand & leverage this potential in innovative products.

Our team is built on complementary expertises in metabolism, bioinformatics, data science, and development of impactful user experience interfaces, and is located in Station F, a major start-up hub in Paris. Our raison d’être is to develop solutions around micro-organisms to drive the development of healthier and more natural products.
Cyrille Pauthenier
President of Microbiome Studio board
Cyrille is graduated from Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris in biology & chemistry. He then specialized and obtained his Ph.D. in synthetic biology. In 2014, Cyrille co-founded Abolis, expert in the development of new processes of bio-production of molecules by fermentation. Microbiome Studio solution comes from Abolis work on micro-organisms.
Sylvia Julien
Microbiome Studio General Manager
Sylvia is graduated from Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan in biochemistry & biological engineering and holds a Ph.D. in oncology. She spent 13 years in pharmaceutical industry with positions in strategic partnerships, open innovation and finally as team head supporting clinical development through advanced data analytics. She joined Microbiome Studio in 2021.
Valérie Brunel
Support for finance, legal, IP and strategy - Abolis General Manager
Valérie is graduated from Toulouse Business School, MS Innovation management, and holds a MSc in information & communication. She has over 20 years experience in biotech industry in marketing positioning, business and corporate development. She joined Abolis in 2016 as General Manager.
Noémie Verscheure
Product Manager
Noémie is graduated from Institut d’Optique Graduate School. As a R&D Image Science Engineer, she has also taken in charge the agile transformation of her team and, then, acted as key player in her department reorganization. She then supported several companies, like ManoMano or Bpifrance, in setting up or improving their Agile and Product organisation. She joined Microbiome Studio in 2021.
Jonathan Mercier
Technical Director
Jonathan is graduated from Université Paris Saclay in Biology & Computational Biology and holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence applied on metabolism. He recently worked for CEA supporting teams in building tools based on high-standard code delivery where he developed a pipeline to follow COVID viral variants over large number of samples. He joined Microbiome Studio in 2021.
